Conference Information

Certificate of Attendance
The Certificate of Attendance will be available at the ISPAD Counter in the registration area.

Conference Bag
The conference bag, containing the conference material, can be obtained in the registration area at the conference venue.

The United States dollar ($, USD, also abbreviated US$) is the official currency of the United States of America. All payments connected with the ISPAD 2011 conference will be in USD. Credit cards (Visa/Mastercard/Diners/Amex) are accepted as well.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians, Inc. and The International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD). The American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians, Inc. is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians, Inc. designates this live activity for a maximum 15.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians, Inc. (ABQAURP) is an approved provider with the Florida Board of Nursing to provide continuing education for nurses. ABQAURP designates this activity for 15.00 Nursing Contact hours through the Florida Board of Nursing, Provider # 50-94.

Conference participants are invited to visit the exhibition on the first level of the Miami Beach Convention Center. The exhibition will be open during the following times:

  • Thursday, October 20, 2011 / 08.00 – 16.00
  • Friday, October 21, 2011 / 08.30 – 15.00
  • Saturday, October 22, 2011 / 08.30 – 12.00

Final Program & Abstract CD-ROM
The Final Program as well as the Abstract CD-ROM will be available on-site. The Abstract Book will be published as a special supplement to Pediatric Diabetes.

Insurance and Liability
The conference organizer, the International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes and the ISPAD Conference Secretariat can not accept liability for personal injury, loss of or damage to belongings of conference participants, either during or as a result of the conference. Please check the validity of your own insurance.

Internet Café
The Internet Café will be open to all delegates during exhibition times.

ISPAD Service Point
The Society will have a service point in the registration area where members can ask questions, pay their fees, get missing issues of Pediatric Diabetes, etc. Non-Members are also invited to learn more about ISPAD.

The official conference language is English.

Name Badge
A badge is required for admittance to all official conference sessions and events. Each participant is asked to present the badge in order to gain access to the conference. The name badge must be worn and clearly displayed at all times.

Passport & Visa Requirements
Please check with your nearest embassy / consulate whether you will need a visa to enter the United States of America. Make sure to apply for a multiple-entry visa when planning tours or trips to other countries (e.g. Canada, Brazil, etc.) during your stay. Also check the “Letter of Guarantee” information in the Terms and Conditions section of this document.

Poster Area / Poster Sessions
The poster area will be located on the first floor. The posters will be present during the entire conference. Poster Sessions with a designated chairman will take place at the times indicated in the program. All poster presenters are asked to post their posters well before this time and to be present during the times of presentation. Material and the exact location of where to attach the posters to the poster walls will be provided.

Smoking Policy
It is forbidden to smoke in any part of the conference venue.

Speakers Center
Invited speakers, chairmen and oral abstract presenters must report to the Speakers Center at least four hours prior to their presentation in order to check and deposit their presentation.

Travel Grants
All delegates submitting an abstract may apply for travel grants during the abstract submission process. Requirements: 40 years of age or less, ISPAD member (all dues paid), first author of an abstract.
